Julia Marie Lawrence Silvestri died of ovarian cancer on May 10, 2005, two days short of her 36th birthday. Her husband Tony and her kids Thomas and Emma now live in Kansas. Jules, as most of us called her, was a Christian and a servant. Every occupation she engaged in was about serving people. She was a teacher at the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, CA. She was a job coach/interpreter for the deaf at a jobs program run by L.A.Unified Schools. She aided in inner-city ministries through her church and also led worship Sunday nights there. She even worked as a boxgirl at Lucky Market when she was a kid, helping people to their cars with groceries. She took a personal interest in nearly everyone she met over her life. Anywhere you went with her, you would hear her call people by name and ask them about their family and how things were going. She was so Christlike in this world, many of us thought "WWJD" meant "What Would Jules Do." After her first encounter with ovarian cancer, she volunteered countless hours helping other victims by recounting her story to them. She made many friends along the way from that alone. It was stunning that she should see a recurrence of the cancer seven years after the initial encounter. There was shock and sadness as she spent a year fighting bravely, receiving bad news at nearly every turn. Her emails to prayer warriors and friends during that time were amazing. Her death deeply affected many people. It is our hope that the projects that are available from this new record label will serve as a reminder that our time here can be short, and that music is one of the best ways to celebrate our lives. With every project, we especially celebrate Jules' life, which was clearly too short.
